It was terrifying, but I love it. Halloween Horror Nights H.H. and 35. It's their 35th year. I hate scary movies, but I love this event. And like we mentioned, this is the third year in a row I've gone. And for whoever's not familiar, it's a separately ticket event at Universal Studios Florida, and it runs from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. on select nights.

And there are ten haunted houses. And this year they change every year. But this year at Ozzy Osbourne, Stranger Things, sinners, Hellraiser, it was just like really well done and tons of jump scares, gore and blood and nasty stuff. But like, it is so cool. They also had scare zones throughout the park. So even if you're not in like a haunted house which have long lines, you can just walk around the park and it's just really cool.

One of the big ones this year is by fortnight. It's called Fort Nightmares and this got a lot of hate online. I don't know why, but my son plays Fortnite, so I was pretty excited to check it out. And it's it's a really cool section of the park where just all the trees are lit up and there's a storm coming in and it just see all the characters from Fortnite.

So just that was really cool. In addition to that and the the haunted houses, there are shows throughout the night. I went to Nightmare Fuel. This one is called Blood Noir for the first time, and it's like it's a stunt show, but with tons of fire and great music, and it's just like, wow, it was very nice, very fiery.

It was, it was it was cool. And then there's just a ton of unique food, you know, gross. Like themed food that's not included unless you have like a special, special package, but just a great event and it's just really well done. Just all the scare actors, just all the detail that goes into the sets of the haunted houses, like you're walking through Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train and it's just it's just cool.

But this is the the trip that I had to cancel because I didn't have a passport. So I finally got it reorganized. Huge shout out to the team at the Aruba marriott and the PR folks that I was working with. Thank you so much for being understanding for my giant mistake. I really do appreciate it. So I had visited this resort in 2024, and I did a full ride up for upgraded points, and all of the rooms now have been renovated as well as the spa.

So they invited me back to check out the renovations, which was really exciting because when I went before, one of my small criticisms of the property was that the rooms just felt a bit dated, so it was nice to see all of the rooms. All of the renovations were completed in December of 2025, so we're still in that first year right after renovations, everything is still fresh and new and bright.

All of the rooms are at least 400ft², so even if you book just the base level room, you were going to have plenty of space. The rooms do feel super refreshed. When I was there before, it was, you know, dark wood and carpet and typically what you'd see of hotels. And now it's it's fresh white walls, quartz looking countertops, you know, really modern looking, the carpets gone, you know, modern lighting, plenty of plugs by the bedside, just everything you'd want.

It feels clean and fresh and unfussy. So I thought they did a really good job with the refresh of the guest rooms. I think it really helps that resort sort of feel just a notch, you know, a notch nicer. But the beach is the highlight of this property. It's on Palm Beach, which is one of the best beaches in Aruba.

It has literally the calmest water I have ever seen in the Caribbean on an ocean. And this was both times it wasn't just a fluke. This is just how it is there. It's like virtually no waves. So it's great for kids, you know, little ones. You don't want to send them out into waves so they get taken away.

It's great for like floaties, like you can get floaties. I think it's actually part of the resort fee. It's great if you just want to grab a drink and like stand in the water and talk to friends. So it's a really cool experience. Obviously, if you're looking for waves, it's not where you want to go. But if you want a really nice beach, great for walking too, because the sand doesn't do that, like sink down thing, it's very solid.

So it's great if you just want to walk. So I really like the beach here. You can rent or reserve a beach palapa. Definitely recommend that. We enjoyed that. So that was a really nice feature I like I like that one. When resorts do that, it just makes makes it so much easier. There's a big pool that's family friendly, has swim up bar, the waterfall. It can get a little loud during the day. It's a very boisterous pool, which is generally not my vibe, but they did shut the loud music down at about 5:00, which was kind of nice.

Again, I know, right? So that is being fully renovated and it will reopen in early October. So that's something to look forward to as well. Lots of good restaurants on the property. And like I've done beachside dining before, but you will not get closer to the water than you will hear.

And I assume it's because, you know, it's not a big, you know, waves crashing onto the beach. It's very calm, like we were literally ten, 12ft from the water at our table. It's just it's a really nice atmosphere, so definitely recommend that.

Otherwise, the resort has the largest casino on the island of Aruba. Oh, it has the biggest Starbucks on the island as well. So any star fans will be very happy. Yeah, it's got a really nice spa that's been renovated. It's got at the spa, there's a nice outdoor area with a hot tub, a cold plunge and some like cushy lounge chairs so you can relax before or after your treatment.

Big two level gym with lots of natural light and then you also have access. Next door there are two Marriott Vacation Club properties, so you can easily go and dine at those properties and charge that to your room. So it works pretty seamlessly between those three, which is really nice for anyone who's interested in booking rates, obviously very wildly.

I found most nights starting in the $600 per night range, I found a few nights for 75,000 Marriott points. They were very few and far between. Most nights were over 100,000. Okay. Welcome back. Southwest is making some big moves, and we now know that next year, southwest will debut their first lounges. Southwest plans to open its first lounge in late 2027, with at least 11 locations expected over the next several years. We do not know which one will open first, but we do know that the first four locations will be Austin, Baltimore, Honolulu and Nashville, Tennessee.

The airlines currently overlap at three gateways. That's LAX Miami. In San Francisco. This marks Southwest's 11th international airline partner in recent years. None of these are codeshare partners, so you're not going to be earning miles or get any, you know, elite benefits across the airlines.

Paulo definitely has more flight options, but you may get lucky. And occasionally those flights to Rio will come a little bit cheaper right now. I did some searches before the show. I'm seeing flights between 20 and 25,000 each way in economy. That's flying from New York and Miami using American airline and Alaska miles. So you should check because you should be able to tack on the domestic flight from the West coast to connect down to Brazil for no extra cost, so that could be a great option.

I also found a few scattered business class seats for 50,000 Alaska miles that are same flight as 72,000 American miles, so if you have the miles, I would recommend just booking now because you can always just cancel later. And when you get to Brazil, you're going to find that the domestic flights are going to be pretty expensive. So that's another another reason to start leaning on partner airlines, because trains getting between cities is not a thing.

Japan I think you may have a good case here. That being said, if you are going to open the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you are kind of putting yourself at risk for no reason.
